Flowers to bloom
Painting babies and newborns is an intriguing task of capturing an unmeasured beauty untouched by any standards, an innocent energy of new life. Though I’ve never met a single newborn who looked like a cherub right away, all are cute and endearing. There’s a rawness in them: pure, unrestrained emotion; strong instincts alongside fragility and vulnerability. A human being in the making.
Something otherworldly lingers in their figures (though only for a brief while), hidden among the folds and wrinkles, before the intricate story of ancestry begins to unfold, shaping that small face.
